DEFIBRILLATE

Boxing Day win at Pukekohe Park - Zabeel Classic

Boxing Day win at Pukekohe Park - Zabeel Classic

Pukekohe Park, 26th December 2022 - 2050m WFA - Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic – jockey Warren Kennedy

Owned by: McInteer Family Syndicate, G Richardson, A Harris, D Lumsden, B McCullum, S Swap, L O'Sullivan & B Priest

This well-named 8YO bay gelding by Shocking (AUS) took out the Cambridge Stud Zabeel Classic on Boxing Day 2022 with a very stylish win. It was his 12th win from 30 starts, and a decisive one. On a Good3 track, he took over at the 200m mark and ran away for a 1 3/4L win.

This followed a nice win in the Balmerino Stakes at his previous start on 1st November 2022 - also at Pukekohe. He was ridden by Craig Grylls that day, coming with a huge finish to win by a head.

The ownership team must be so proud of this boy who keeps on giving. After two early career wins in a row (from three starts) back in Aug/Sept 2019, he went to Australia where he immediately clocked up two wins from his first two starts over there (Oct and Nov 2019).

He went on to give his owners six more wonderful wins during his Australian campaign (Oct 2019 to May 2022). That's 8 wins from 24 starts over there, and included an impressive four-in-a-row winning streak between December 2020 and February 2021 at both Caulfield and Flemington. Plus plenty of placings.

Of particular note - Defibrillate won the Lord Stakes 1700m Listed Race on Boxing Day 2020 and the Victoria Cup 2000m Listed Race on 20th February 2021, both at Caulfield.

Huge congratulations to Manawatu member Graeme McInteer and his family. With over $1m in prize money, and so many thrilling wins both here and across the Tasman, a horse like Defibrillate is the sort we all dream of owning.

Good luck in the Herbie Dyke Stakes at Te Rapa on 11th February!

Happy owners!
